Stripes

When we talk about prints & patterns stripes is almost always what pops into people’s minds first. It’s one of the patterns that are most commonly worn.

However, there are horizontal, vertical and diagonal stripes. How do we pick what suits us best? Easy!

  • Horizontal stripes add width to the area they are worn in. In other words, if you have narrow shoulders and you want to make them appear wider to balance them with your flared pants; choose a top with horizontal stripes to do so. It will make people’s eyes travel from left to right or vice versa creating a horizontal vision.
  • Vertical stripes add length and slims the area they are worn in. In other words, if you have a wide upper body and you want to make it appear longer and slimmer to create a balance with your skinny, slim or straight jeans; choose a top with vertical stripes to do so. It will make people’s eyes travel from north to south or vice versa creating a vertical vision.
  • Diagonal stripes work great in camouflaging the area they are worn in. In other words, if you have a wide midsection and you want to conceal it to remove the focus from it; choose a loose fit top with diagonal stripes to do so. It will make people’s eyes travel sideways (diagonally) cutting through any wideness and camouflaging it.
